Heat pumps
Repair and replacement for the system most local homes run year-round.
A heat pump heats and cools your home, so it works harder than any other appliance in the house. When it struggles, you usually notice it as a high power bill or a thermostat that says 'aux heat' far too often.
We repair defrost controls, reversing valves, and outdoor fan motors, and we set up thermostats so the backup heat only runs when it actually needs to.
What we handle
- Defrost and reversing valves
- Aux heat running too often
- Thermostat setup
Signs it's time to call
- Aux or emergency heat comes on often in mild weather
- The outdoor unit is covered in ice and won't defrost
- Loud whooshing or banging when it switches modes
- It heats but won't cool, or cools but won't heat
Common questions
Is ice on my heat pump normal?
A light frost in winter is normal, and the unit should clear it on its own. A thick block of ice that stays means something needs a look.
How long does a heat pump last?
Most last 10 to 15 years with regular maintenance. Spring and fall tune-ups help them reach the long end of that range.
